Simon studied the Masters at ESES from 2005 to 2006. Before coming to ESES, he graduated from the University of Applied Science in Winterthur, Switzerland. During his studies at ESES, he worked on a thesis in conjunction with the Solartechnik Prufung Institut (SPF) part of the Hochschule fur Technik Rapperswil. After completion of his thesis, he was offered a postion at SPF as a researcher. Soon, he joined the Polysun Simulation Software Team where he became responsible for solar hydronic system design.

In 2007, Polysun was spun-off. Simon joined the new start-up known as Vela Solaris which started with 4 employees. As Vela Solar grew rapidly, he became responsible for the solar thermal application and also for the the front end of the software. While working, he attended an MBA program where he improved his business and marketing skills which he used at Vela Solaris. As part of Vela Solaris's growth, new employees took over the programming and allowed Simon to concentrate on building Polysun's internation sales network.

In 2008, he was elected to the board of Vela Solaris and became involved in strategic planning. Currently, he is responsible for international expansion of Polysun, mainly in the US. He is currently located in San Francisco, California. Vela Solaris has a team of 15, along with a network of international sales people. Simon's ESES thesis work has lead him on an exciting career path.

Robert graduated from ESES in 2001 and went to work at MHH-Solartechnik in Tuebingen, Germany. There he worked in selling and engineering PV systems. During that time, he was joined by Knud Clausen (who did an internship at SERC in Börlänge) and opened an office in Munich, Germany.
Later, besides getting married, Robert returned to Scandinavia and joined REC Solar as head of PV module sales in Oslo.
In 2008 Robert took over the position of president of SolarWorld California Robert. One year later Robert came back to Europe to join the Norwegian/German company Innotech Solar. ITS is repowering non-prime solar cells from the PV industry. Robert is in charge of sales and marketing.

Elieser graduatet from ESES in 2003 and in his Master thesis he developed a curriculum for a Master program in renewable energy for his home University in Indonesia. After graduating from Högskolan Dalarna he continued studying for a PhD in the area of solar drying at the Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment, King Mungkuts University of Technology Thonbury, Thailand. After finishing his PhD he returned to Surabaya teaching at the University. Right now he is planing to start a research center at their third campus in Trawas, which is located in the rural area of East Java Province. In future also courses in solar energy are planned, eventually in collaboration with ESES.

Carlos Tejada

Carlos graduated from ESES in 2004 and returned to his sunny home, the country of the Dominican Republic.
Carlos started his own business and founded the company PROEA, dealing with renewable energy systems, such as photovoltaics, solar thermal, and bio gas plants.

As the Dominican Republic enjoys adequate insolation but not any feed in tariffs for PV electricity, Carlos has had much experience with off-grid systems. The photo on the left shows an installation that Carlos recently completed.
Besides his company PROEA, Carlos is also involved in renewable energy education. He is coordinating a Masters programme at the Institute of Technology of Santo Domingo, where he is lecturing in solar energy.

Bastiaan - also known as Sander - graduated in 2004 with his thesis about a tank in tank combi storage, a joined development of the University of Oslo, SolarNor and ESES. As the Dutch government stopped funding the solar industry and canceled all subsidies and incentives, Sander did not go back to his home country the Netherlands because of a lack of jobs in the solar industry, but went to Germany, the home country of his girlfriend who also was studying in at Högskolan Dalarna. It took Bastiaan about a year to learn the language and in the mean time he did an internship at Immosolar, a mid-sized company specialized in systems that combine heat pumps and solar using the structure/core of the building as seasonal storage. In the end of 2005 Bastiaan started at Conergy as a developer for solar thermal systems. His field of operation were collectors; production start-up, production ramp-up, development leading to price reduction, certification of collectors, etc. In 2007 Bastiaan changed to Vaillant were he committed himself to accessories for thermosyphon- and drainback solar systems. Currently he is getting himself familiar with the techniques of large solar systems.
