Starting in 2016, the Master's Programme will have a new curriculum focused on enhancing students capabilities in our core subjects in solar engineering especially PV and systems design. The main improvements include:
Many of our over 200 alumni are active as engineers and managers in the global solar energy industry. Some have started their own solar businesses; others are researchers and teachers at universities. Several graduates have successfully continued their education with PhD studies.
During the spring semester a 15 credit (~2.5 months) or a 30 credit (4-5 months) thesis project is carried out by students who choose the one year program. Two year program student's carry out during their last semester a 30 credit master thesis project.
The European Solar Engineering School at Dalarna University offers students the choice of studying a one-year or a two-year Master’s Programme in Solar Energy Engineering.
Most of the activities that we carry out every day require the use of one form of energy or another. On average, every person living on planet Earth consumes 2500W of primary energy (energy resources that have not suffered any transformation). In one year this adds up to 75 million Btu’s (around 79 gigajoules) per person, which is enough energy to drive a modern diesel car around the Earth by the Equator.
Many mornings, we wake up by the light and the warmth of the Sun, our star. Located at the center of the Solar System, it provides the necessary energy to enable life in the biosphere. Also, it participates in the lifecycle of several renewable resources which are the origin of hydro, wind, marine and geothermal power, and biomass.
